And at times, the numbness just wrapped itself around her. She stopped feeling altogether, and just sat by the side of the pond of her being, watching herself, lying under the mirror-like surface. She wondered if she was looking at the reflection of her breathing self, or watching the drowned side of her soul in the dark waters of time…

No hurt and no rejoicement. Just the longing of a warm hand on her shoulder to wake her from the ferocious apathy.

No pain and no delight. Just the patient wait, hoping to run out of breaths, and slip silently into eternity…

Whichever came first, not having any preference, between life and death.
